CAQH ProView: How to Set Up and Keep Your Profile Current
Most commercial payers rely on CAQH ProView for credentialing. Learn what goes into a complete profile, why re-attestation every 120 days matters, and how to avoid delays.
If you want to join commercial insurance networks, your CAQH ProView profile is usually the first thing payers check. An incomplete or out-of-date profile is one of the most common reasons credentialing stalls. Here is how to set it up correctly and keep it that way.
What is CAQH ProView?
CAQH ProView is a free online database where providers enter their professional information once and share it with the health plans they choose. Instead of filling in the same details for every payer, plans pull your data from CAQH during credentialing and re-credentialing.
What a complete profile includes
- Personal details, NPI and practice locations
- Education, training and board certification
- State licenses, DEA and CDS registrations
- Malpractice insurance and claims history
- Work history, with explanations for any gaps
- Hospital affiliations or admitting arrangements
- Disclosure questions, answered and signed
Step by step
- Register – a participating health plan can add you to CAQH, or you can register yourself and receive your CAQH Provider ID.
- Complete every section – missing answers keep the profile from being marked complete.
- Upload documents – license, DEA, malpractice face sheet, board certificate and CV.
- Authorize payers – allow the health plans you are applying to, or all plans, to view your profile.
- Attest – confirm the information is correct. Payers cannot use an un-attested profile.
Re-attest every 120 days
CAQH asks providers to re-attest every 120 days. If attestation lapses, payers may pause your application or flag you during re-credentialing. Set a reminder, and update the profile whenever something changes – a new address, license renewal or new malpractice policy.
Common mistakes that cause delays
- Expired license or malpractice documents left on the profile
- Unexplained gaps in work history
- Practice address that does not match the payer application
- Payer access not authorized
- Forgetting to re-attest after making updates
A complete, attested CAQH profile is the foundation of fast credentialing. Keep documents current and re-attest every 120 days so payers never have a reason to wait.
